Panthers Softball rout RMU in cross-town battle

Pitt softball hosted their cross-town adversary Robert Morris University (16-10, 5-0 HLC) at Vartabedian Field for a Wednesday evening matchup. The Panthers needed a strong showing, losing seven straight games leading up to their bout with the Colonials. The Panthers (12-14, 1-7 ACC) got back in the win column, drubbing the Colonials 7-2 after posting a season-high 12 hits during the non-conference showdown.

Pitt softball welcomed their in-state rival Penn State (11-11, 0-0 Big Ten) to Vartabedian Field for their home opener after winning two of three games over the weekend. The Panthers (11-9, 1-2 ACC) fell to the Nittany Lions 6-0 following a lackluster hitting performance.

Pitt softball alumni recognized in Saturday matchup against Clemson Tigers

Pitt softball celebrated its 25th anniversary Saturday at Vartabedian Field, and a pre-game ceremony featured an appearance from members of the 2015 team.

This particular squad reached the ACC Championship Final, and also earned the team its first appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Men’s soccer secures No. 5 seed in NCAA tournament

Pitt men’s soccer earned the No. 5 overall seed and a first-round bye in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. This is the second consecutive year where the Panthers have had a first-round bye. The Panthers will play the winner of the opening round matchup between Oakland University and Northern Illinois. After that, a familiar rival looms on the horizon. If Penn State beats the victor of Hofstra and Lipscomb, and Pitt comes out on top in its second-round matchup, then the two in-state rivals would meet in

First game back at the Pete met with excitement, cautious optimism

Pitt men’s basketball is back and with the team comes the feeling of worry surrounding the team and the upcoming season.

Typical of a Tuesday night in Oakland, college students and staff packed the streets and sidewalks going to and from their destinations. But there was an air of excitement surrounding the Petersen Events Center as the Panthers prepared for the men’s basketball team’s first game back at the Petersen Events Center with a full crowd.

Panther men finish 11th, women 12th at ACC Cross Country Championships

South Bend, Indiana, was the site of the ACC Championships, where Pitt men’s and women’s cross country competed this past Friday. Senior Evan Addison and first-year Caroline Rusinski finished highest for Pitt in the men’s 8k and women’s 6k, respectively.
